Spenlove was important in the history of Burmese painting because he was an instructor of Burma's first Western-style painter who studied in London, U Ba Nyan.

Hello from Portugal,

I have a painting of a peasant woman outside her cottage, probably somewhere in Europe but not in Britain. On the reverse is written that this painting hung in his study and so must have been a favourite of his.
