: Hi, I have 10 Paul Detelfsen prints and they are all in pretty good shape. They are framed and hung proudly in my living room. I am interested in collecting more. I don't have Days Gone By or any of the Iron Horse series. I find that picking them up at auction for a few dollars is my best option. I would also like to know about how much they are really worth. More information to whoever can help me.
Hi.
I have not seen any prints, but I did pick up some jigsaw puzzles from 1968 that are of the series "The Seasons" by Detelfsen. His name is on each puzzle just as it was on the original painting. Each puzzle is in it's original box... I bought the whole set of 4.
I am trying, also, to find a market for his work as I would love to sell the puzzles to a collector.
If you are interested, please email me and let me know.
As far as information goes I have learned some of his history. He was born in 1900 and painted right up until he died in his mid eighties. He wanted to work in Hollywood and did do art for a few films and worked wit Cecil D. Demille among others.
He was concidered a great folk artist in the 50's and 60's and was compared to a cross between Mark Twain and Norman Rockwell. He used his children, and later his grandchildren, as inspiration for the children in the paintings.
